Broadcaster and ‘Bollywoodwalla’ Ravi Sagoo was brought up on a rich diet of Bollywood VHS and cinema trips alongside the classic songbook of original Bollywood musical soundtracks. In this programme, join Ravi as he embarks on his own ‘Filmi’ musical journey celebrating the glitz and glamour of Bollywood cinema and music alongside Scotland’s contribution to the biggest film industry in the world.

Ravi shares stories about his love of the music, trips to Scotland’s first dedicated Bollywood cinema in the 90s, childhood visits to Asian video rental stores and the excitement of seeing a Scottish lager commercial paying homage to Bollywood with its own ‘Item Number’ in full Bollywood Splendour! He also tells the story of how he missed out on a starring role amongst the Bollywood acting elite in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, which was the very first Bollywood film shot in Scotland – a wrong which he has recently put right by starring in a Bollywood film shot in Scotland as a supporting artist!

Ravi will be joined by guests including Bollywood experts Raj Dhanda and Bhagwant Sagoo, and actors Sanjeev Kohli and Feryna Wazheir, who all give us a further insight into Scotland’s contribution as a prime filming backdrop for the past 25 years by Indian filmmakers alongside Scotland’s history and ongoing love affair with Bollywood music, film and song.
