In May 1998, Ethiopia and Eritrea began Africa's deadliest border war. The town of Zalambesa, divided in two by the border, was one of the main theatres of conflict.

In May 1998, Ethiopia and Eritrea began Africa's deadliest border war. The town of Zalambessa, divided in two by the border, was one of the main theatres of conflict. Twenty years later, the two countries signed a peace agreement and the Zalambessa border was finally reopened reconnecting communities and bringing dramatic changes.
