Sharon Horgan and Kristin Scott Thomas discuss their new film Military Wives, plus a review of Hilary Mantel's final novel in the Wolf Hall trilogy, The Mirror and the Light

Sharon Horgan and Kristin Scott Thomas talk to Grant about their roles in new release Military Wives. Inspired by global phenomenon of military wives choirs, the story celebrates a band of misfit women who form a choir on a military base, and the film will be up for review later in today’s show.

As part of our regular Thursday film review hour Grant plus reviewers will also be mulling over a new re-working of HG Wells’ novel The Invisible Man, starring Elisabeth Moss, and Onward, the first Disney film to feature a gay character and which is also a story of childhood bereavement based on the experiences of its director, Dan Scanlon.

Today is World Book Day and it sees the publication of the long-awaited third instalment of the Double –Booker Prize-winning Wolf Hall trilogy from Hilary Mantel- The Mirror and the Light. An author who writes about the Tudor period herself, Jo McDonald has read it and will give us her verdict, plus tell us why if we haven’t read the first two books- we should!

And as the Glasgow Film Festival continues we hear from actor Emily Beecham and director Julian Jarrold about the World Premiere of Sulphur and White at the festival, and released this weekend. It stars Anna Friel, Mark Stanley, Dougray Scott as well as Emily and is based on the true story of City trader and mountaineer David Tait, a man whose professional success masks a series of traumatic secrets as he struggles to comes to terms with abuse he experienced during his childhood.

Anna Welander will be finding out about The Decorators of Portobello – a series of artworks exploring the legacy of the Buchan & Co Thistle potteries - including a sound installation inside a kiln.
