Dustin Lance Black

Oscar-winning Director Dustin Lance Black shares tales from his book 'Mama's Boy' about family, Mormonism and bridging divides.

Oscar-winning Director Dustin Lance Black grew up in a conservative Mormon household in Texas. He went on to become a prominent gay rights activist and write the screenplay for 'Milk', a hugely successful movie about gay rights.

He tells Jason Mohammad about his upbringing and his amazing relationship with his mother, despite their differences, as detailed in his memoir 'Mama's Boy'. Dustin is also now a father himself, to son Robbie Ray, with his husband, the diver Tom Daley.

Plus we meet our Charity Champion Beau McKee, who has raised around £40,000 for MacMillan Cancer Support. Beau ran consecutively for 501 days, at least three miles a day. And he's only 11 years old. Plus Samara Levy tells us how, as a stay-at-home Mum of two, she felt a calling from God to help the people of Syria. What started with gathering second-hand clothes has led to an incredible aid effort. She's recently send her 110th lorry load to the Middle East, and is supporting Doctors and hospitals in the region.
