In the year that Malcolm Hamilton retired from our screens on River City, Billy Differ celebrates the great Scottish comedian and actor Johnny Beattie. With over 60 years in show business, working alongside the likes of Rikki Fulton and Jack Milroy, Johnny is one of the last living legends of a golden era in Scottish comedy. Johnny reflects on the strange and wonderful highlights of a career that took him from Govan to New York's Waldorf Astoria; including an appearance in the Scottish charts and writing a speech for former US president Ronald Reagan. The programme includes contributions from Una McLean, Alan Cumming, Susan Calman and Johnny's daughter, actress Maureen Beattie.
