Certain locations have a magical quality which filmmakers adore. Glen Nevis, in the heart of the Scottish highlands, had all the right ingredients for Braveheart and Rob Roy with rocky crags, purple heather and real Scotch mist.

But Glen Nevis hasn't just been typecast in kilt parts. More recently wizards on broomsticks have been seen flying up this glen in the Harry Potter films.

Matthew Sweet visits this wild patch of country to discover what makes it such a magical location.
