Jacqui Joseph's Fabric Bags

Jacqui Joseph joined us in studio to show us how to make beautiful bags from old fabric

ㅤㅤ

YOU WILL NEED:

  • Old fabric
  • Fabric glue OR a stapler
  • Ribbon
  • A safety pin

ㅤㅤ

METHOD

  1. Cut a piece of fabric to size. There's no need to measure to an exact size unless this is for a specific purpose. If it is, your fabric needs to be around 2.5x the length of your item
  2. Fold in half along the short side of the fabric, making sure that the front of the bag is on the inside
  3. Glue both sides leaving a gap at the top
  4. Once dry, turn inside out
  5. On each side, fold over the excess fabric at the top inwards twice and glue down
  6. Take your ribbon and thread a safety pin through the end, then use this to feed it through one side at the top, and then back through the other side. Do this twice, starting at opposite ends each time
  7. Tie a knot in each side to stop it coming back through, and your bag is complete!
