Radio 2’s All Star Party
On Saturday 30 September, 2017 at O2 Apollo Manchester, Radio 2 hosted a spectacular soul, funk and disco party.
To celebrate its 50th birthday, Radio 2’s Saturday night line up – Trevor Nelson, Craig Charles and Ana Matronic all broadcast their shows live from the stage with live performances from the original Funki Dreds Soul II Soul, The Craig Charles Fantasy Funk Band with guest vocalists Shaun Escoffery and Omar, plus disco and funk legends Shalamar, and the exceptional Lisa Stansfield.
First to perform was Grammy and Brit Award winning Soul II Soul featuring Jazzie B with hits including Back to Life and Keep On Moving. The incredible Shalamar, who’ve sold over 25 million records worldwide and collected no less than 100 gold, silver and platinum discs sung their classics, including I Can Make You Feel Good, A Night To Remember and Friends, plus new single The Real Thing - their first release in over 30 years. And the Craig Charles Fantasy Funk Band performed with British soul, R&B singer and West End star Shaun Escoffery and Omar renowned for his classic soul track, There’s Nothing Like This.
