Antiques Roadshow's privacy notice

Antiques Roadshow is produced by ±«Óãtv Studios for broadcast, use and exploitation by the ±«Óãtv. We are responsible for handling personal information you provide, including your contribution, in accordance with data protection law.

What information we collect and how we use it?

±«Óãtv Studios will collect and process your desired roadshow location, name, contact number, home address, email address, and the item you are telling us about. We will use this information to contact you if we are interested in finding out more about your item and to discuss possibly filming for the Antiques Roadshow. We will also collect some demographic information about you if you are happy to provide this - these questions are optional.

±«Óãtv Studios relies on its legitimate interests as a media organisation to process your personal information. We will not process your personal information where your rights override our interests.

If we decide to shortlist and/or feature you and your item, we may consider it necessary to carry out reasonable background research about you and/or the item. This may include verifying the authenticity of the story or item provenance and include searches of publicly available records such as: criminal convictions and court proceedings; participation in previous television productions: information from social media profiles, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok and LinkedIn. Where appropriate, we will contact you to obtain your consent before we carry out these checks.

We may need to collect sensitive information about you if relevant in the context of the programme or where we have a lawful reason to do so. For example, details of medical conditions to identify health and safety risks or to assess your fitness to participate, or information about whether you have any unspent convictions to assess your suitability as a contributor or for safeguarding purposes.

Retaining your personal information

We will securely store the information you submit for up to one year after broadcast of the series. We do this in case we wish to contact you about your item for the next series. If we decide we would like to feature your item on the Antiques Roadshow then your information will further retained for that purpose.

Sharing your information

Your personal information will generally be restricted to relevant members of the Antiques Roadshow production team and crew, as well as the programme’s third party experts (only where relevant). Where necessary, we may also share information with other ±«Óãtv Studio staff and the ±«Óãtv, with our professional advisors, and from time to time with other programmes that may have an interest in your contribution. If selected to be on the programme, we will share your contact details with our audience services partner ‘Lost in TV’, in order to facilitate entry to the Roadshow.
