Coldplay

It's nearly Coldplay time, and anticipation has been sky-high all day for their headline set on the Main Stage.

The sky was blue, the sun was all yellow - a perfect hymn for the Big Weekend...

And the fans were eagerly waiting for the big moment

Earlier, Chris Martin had popped round to The X Factor's Shelley Smith's house - to give the local singer tickets to tonight's show. Lucky lady!

...and a happy fan caught him for a quick selfie backstage

The Last Shadow Puppets aren't the only act on the Big Weekend line-up that Chris is a fan of - .

And the band have been rumoured to be in Exeter all weekend - unsurprisingly, as they're local boys. Chris was even , the owner of the Big Weekend castle!

Chris's daughter has been accompanying him on tour - here's a proud daddy blowing her kisses from the stage. Wonder if she'll be around tonight?

Finally, it was Coldplay o'clock - time for a group hug

And then it was showtime. Look at the fireworks, look how they shine for you...

Coldplay have spoken about making more "colourful and joyful" music these days - and the fans appreciated the surprise rave on "Paradise"!

The band paid tribute to Prince with a solo piano rendition of "Raspberry Beret"

And if didn't get everyone emotional enough, an anthemic "The Scientist" got the tears flowing

There were fireworks, and of course there was confetti

All in all, it was a triumphant homecoming - and even Exeter City Council agreed
