What is Character Invasion?

Character Invasion is taking place on Saturday 29th March 2014 and is set to be a fun-filled celebration of all things character.

There will be two strands to the day. There will be programming dedicated to character happening on Radio 4 throughout the day as well as fun-filled events that will be free to attend.

Find out what events are happening near you . Guests will have the chance to meet their favourite characters, have sessions with the actors and writers that bring them to life and take a peek behind the scenes of some of the ±«Óãtv's best-loved programmes.

Who is Character Invasion for?

There’s something for everyone during Character Invasion, from clay model making for younger children through to web chats via the Writers Room with well-known writers.

At our events you’ll be able to meet the cast of some of the best-loved C±«Óãtv programmes and take a look behind the scenes and see how the productions teams create the programmes you love. If you aren't able to make it to an event there will be dedicated programmes throughout the day on ±«Óãtv Radio 4; you’ll hear interviews with some of best loved characters, their creators as well as a live version of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

After the events you'll be able to catch up with all of the special programmes online.

How old do I have to be to attend?

The events are open to all age groups and there will be events for the whole family, however it is important that all children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Please also note that parents and guardians are responsible for their children's behaviour at the events.

Where can I take part in Character Invasion Day?

How much do the events cost?

Absolutely nothing! All of the events are FREE.Ìý

There are both ticketed and drop-in sessions taking place across the country. You can book ticketed events from the 5th until the 13th March from the ±«Óãtv Shows and Tours website. Links to book the tickets are on each event's page.

Drop-in sessions will also run throughout the day. Please check out each individual site's for more information.

Can I just turn up on the day?

There will be some drop-in events taking place across the country, which you will be able to just turn up for.

Other events will be ticketed and you can see a break-down of each region's sessions on their ' page.

How will I get my tickets?

Tickets are being managed by .

All tickets will be confirmed by email – you will need to print the email out and bring it along on the day.

Doors will normally open an hour before the event begins.

What can I do if the event I want tickets to is sold out?

If an event is sold out, unfortunately it’s unlikely you’ll be able to attend. However, there are lots of unticketed events taking place so you can still come along and take part.

Will I be able to meet celebrities?

The cast of some well-known ±«Óãtv shows, actors and writers will be meeting their audiences and sharing their skills at various ticketed events. For full details and how to book tickets click .

What facilities are you providing for disabled people?

All sites are fully accessible for people with disabilities.

Can I bring a camera?

Yes, although some specific events will not permit photography.

Will food and drink be available?

The ±«Óãtv will not be providing food and drink but there are catering outlets on or close to all sites.

Can I bring a buggy?

Buggies are welcome however there will be limited space. Buggies will not be permitted inside the actual events however there will be a holding area in each of the venues for storage.

Can I volunteer / do work experience at the Character Invasion?

We are not currently looking for volunteers or work experience staff, however we do have general ±«Óãtv work experience placements here:

What about valuables?

All persons attending the event are responsible for their own valuables. The ±«Óãtv will not be liable for any loss or damage to personal property brought to the venue.

There is no centralised cloakroom available, however sit-down events will have an area for buggies.

First Aid

There will be a designated First Aid area at the venue with an appropriately qualified First Aider.
