±«Óãtv Music Day was covered across the nations on ±«Óãtv Television, Radio and Online, with special programmes, performances and activities throughout Thursday 26th September and the surrounding days.

Highlights

Broadcasts included a very special edition of Blue Peter, which featured Paul McCartney, details on how to get the brand new music badge designed by Ed Sheeran, and a live performance from Becky Hill. There was also a chaotic edition of Pointless Celebrities, a rock edition of Bargain Hunt featuring The Darkness and Feeder, and pop-up performances across both TV and radio, featuring Craig David, Keane, and Liam Gallagher.

±«Óãtv Breakfast had a special VT with Anne-Marie on the power of music therapy on Tuesday 24th, and on ±«Óãtv Music Day they had Keane on the sofa, Professor Green took over the weather with Carol, plus an exclusive live performance moment from Craig David at Birmingham New Street Station.

Bargain Hunt ±«Óãtv Music Day special returned! This year saw a rock special as The Darkness took on Feeder.

The One Show had spectacular highlights from events across the country, plus an exclusive video from Nile Rodgers for ±«Óãtv Music Day’s Music & Dementia initiative, and Liam Gallagher performed live.

EastEnders featured a ±«Óãtv Music Day announcement on the radio in the café.

The Lewis Capaldi Symphony was a brilliant performance from the man of the moment, who performed some of his most popular tracks with the Manchester Camerata.

Pointless Celebrities celebrated 5 years of ±«Óãtv Music Day, with four teams going head to head to win the coveted Pointless trophy. Ricky Wilson teamed up with Will Young to face Tom from Blossoms and Ray BLK, the Happy Mondays’ Shaun Ryder and Rowetta, and Naughty Boy and Lesley Garrett.

Nations Radio

±«Óãtv Radio Scotland had the final of its singer/songwriter talent competition. The prize included a recording session with ±«Óãtv Scotland in Glasgow, an opportunity to play the King Tut’s stage at the TRNSMT Festival next year and a promotional video.

±«Óãtv Northern Ireland and ±«Óãtv Radio Ulster/Foyle looked at how music brings people together to make a positive impact, with live music sessions, guests and playlists.

±«Óãtv Radio Cymru looked for the most iconic Welsh language music from the archive to put on the ±«Óãtv Music Memories website, working with women’s group Merched y Wawr to select songs that mean the most to listeners and playing them on air.

±«Óãtv Radio Wales broadcasted from a Swansea care home where a local school performed with the care home choir and a local dementia choir; and programmes showcased bands from the Horizons project which develops new, independent contemporary music in Wales.
