The Radio 1 and 1Xtra Academy

Ahead of Radio 1’s Hackney Weekend, on the first of June 2012 we opened the doors of the Radio 1 and 1Xtra Academy in Hackney.

We wanted to celebrate the young people and the area of East London in the lead up to Radio 1’s Hackney Weekend and the Olympics.

We ran a range of practical masterclasses and Q&A’s with various successful people including Usher, Paloma Faith and Adam Deacon, where they explained how they made it in their chosen career. They were also on hand to offer advice to thousands of young people from Hackney and East London.
