The Goes Wrong Show S2: Filming during Covid-19

How did we make The Goes Wrong show safe for everyone during filming?

Everything possible was done to protect our actors and crew during the filming of The Goes Wrong Show, Series 2. We created a completely Covid secure environment under the supervision of our expert Covid Safety Advisors, using comprehensive bespoke protocols that we developed over months following Government and trade bodies’ guidelines. Among other things, everyone bar our cast was required to socially distance and wear masks everywhere on the studio site, and this was monitored by our Covid Supervisors and special distancing bands. Every individual’s temperature was tested every morning, the studio was kept well ventilated and there was a robust and rigorous cleaning regime.

Our cast, who were required to break masking and social distancing rules while performing, were PCR tested twice a week and spent the filming period in a strict ‘bubble’ known as a Close Contact Cohort. We transported each cast member individually from home or put them up in closely monitored hotel accommodation, and they were masked and distanced between takes. We also tested any crew members required to approach cast more closely, and timed their interactions to remain within government and trade guidelines.

How do we have a studio audience?

The Goes Wrong Show relies on the response from a live audience. We achieved this in two ways - firstly, by having a reduced, socially distanced, masked audience on the nights when we recorded the show. The audience’s safety was our top priority so the studio complex, our audience services company, and the production team worked very hard to make sure that audience members were kept distanced on their way in and out of the studios and all surfaces, seats etc. were cleaned thoroughly before and after.

Secondly, we screened rough edits of the episodes for other socially distanced audiences (with the same precautions), and recorded their laughter, applause and other responses to add more layers to the audio mix.
