Press Release

Joanne Malin and Pudsey Bear get their skates on for Children in Need

Rob Pitchford, Pudsey Bear and Joanne Malin

±«Óãtv Radio WM presenter Joanne Malin will be stepping in front of the cameras again this November as the presenter of ±«Óãtv Children in Need for the West Midlands region.

Joanne was in Coventry on 27 October with Pudsey Bear at Planet Ice Arena Coventry. The venue is running a Children in Need ticket-only event on TV appeal night, Friday 19 November.

Joanne said: "I'm thrilled to be presenting Children in Need this year and really looking forward to coming back to Coventry on appeal night. I'll want to see as many people as possible and hear about their fundraising stories, and hopefully we can raise lots of money for this brilliant cause."

Rob Pitchford, Planet Ice Arena Manager, said: "We're organising this event in the hope that it'll be one of the biggest parties of the night. There will be lots of entertainment, fun, and of course, skating, to keep everyone amused, and we'll be organising our own fundraising as well."

Last year ±«Óãtv Children in Need raised over a record-breaking £39 million, which is making a real difference to some of the most disadvantaged children and young people right here in the UK.

Since the appeal started in 1980, over £500 million has been raised to make a real and tangible difference to the lives of disadvantaged youngsters.

This year the fundraising theme is "show your spots, let's raise lots!" for Children in Need, which could be as simple as baking spotty cupcakes or getting the boss to wear spots for the day!

Notes to Editors

This is not a ±«Óãtv event – it is a ticket only event organised by Planet Ice Arena.

The event will start at 5.30pm and continue until 11pm. Tickets are available by calling the Planet Ice Arena Coventry ticket office on 02476 630693, or online at www.ticketable.com/coventry.

Anybody who wishes to come to Planet Ice Arena Coventry on November 19 can gain free entry, and skaters can join in the fun with admission £5, and 20 per cent of each ticket price being donated to Children in Need.

This year's ±«Óãtv Children in Need Appeal was launched on 20 September, and will reach its crescendo during the star-studded ±«Óãtv One show on Friday 19 November.
