Journalist and academic Aleks Krotoski lays bare the extraordinary benefits and the unforeseen downsides of the world wide web's impact on almost every facet of our lives today – revolutionising economies, challenging political systems and even reshaping the ways we think and relate to each other.

In a landmark four-part series examining the profound changes precipitated by the invention of the web 20 years ago, Aleks travels through the United States, Russia, South Korea and Estonia revealing remarkable human stories that illustrate how the web is being used and abused today. She meets the web's pioneers and greatest minds to ask searching questions about where it may take us in the future.

Adopting a ground-breaking open source production process, Aleks and the team offer web users early access to programme content through their production blog at bbc.co.uk/digitalrevolution. Filmed rushes will be made available online, inviting comment, input and story leads from the online community.

With little or no direct connection to al-Qaeda, they have been radicalised to the point where they are prepared to kill their fellow citizens.

Filmed in North America, Britain, Europe and the Middle East, with contributions from families of the extremists as well as the police and security services, this three-part series by award-winning ±«Óãtv reporter Peter Taylor examines the new threat posed by some young Muslims who have embraced militant Islam.

In each film, Theo follows the progress of three British companies considering expanding in these high-growth markets. Viewers will experience international trade through the eyes of successful companies, and explore the role of Britain in the global economy. Some of the companies are household names, while others are based on fresh inventions, retail success and intellectual property.

The Open University Business School will support a website providing in-depth material on high-growth markets and international trade.

When John Spedan Lewis gave his shops to his employees he pioneered the commercial co-operative, making every staff member a partner and handing out a share of the profits.

However, times have been hard for the last six months, and the pressure is on for the second half of the year. The series explores whether a business model developed in the Twenties can really survive the commercial turmoil of the 21st century.
