The Prodigy has been added to the line-up for ±«Óãtv Radio 1's Big Weekend in Swindon – and will headline on Sunday 10 May 2009.

They join the incredible line-up of over 50 UK and international artists that were announced last week – including Snow Patrol, Lily Allen, Kasabian, Ne-Yo, Franz Ferdinand and Akon.

Jason Carter, Editor, ±«Óãtv Live Events, says: "We're delighted to have landed The Prodigy to headline Swindon on Sunday 10 May. They're a superb live act and we've been working very hard to get them in on the show as a late addition. It's shaping up to be a fantastic weekend of live music."

Kicking off this year's festival season, the station's free annual flagship event comes from Lydiard Park and 40,000 lucky music fans can enjoy music from four arenas in the park – the Main Stage; the In New Music We Trust Stage; the Outdoor Stage; and the ±«Óãtv Introducing Stage.

A truly multi-platform experience, the two-day event will be broadcast on Radio 1, with a major interactive presence online at bbc.co.uk/radio1 and many live performances available to watch on demand.

There will be highlights on ±«Óãtv Three and extended performances can be seen via the Red Button on digital TV during the weekend.

Throughout the weekend, Radio 1 DJs including Chris Moyles; Jo Whiley; Vernon Kay; Scott Mills; Fearne & Reggie; Edith Bowman; Zane Lowe; Annie Mac; Greg James; and Nick Grimshaw will be introducing the bands on stage and broadcasting from the event.
