Outnumbered returns to ±«Óãtv One – 9.05pm, Saturday 15 November 2008

Introduction

This month sees the return to µþµþ°äÌý°¿²Ô±ð of Outnumbered, the comedy series from Hat Trick Productions which captures family life in a way not seen before, at its most deliciously chaotic.

Ìý

The first series was praised by critics and viewers alike for its freshness and natural evocation of the daily rollercoaster of family life with small children; a regal six-year-old with a talent for interrogation, an eight-year-old boy with a penchant for lying, and a lovelorn 12-year-old...

Ìý

Outnumbered is a very recognisable celebration of parental incompetence, as a beleaguered Mum and Dad attempt to raise their kids with the minimum of emotional damage for all concerned.

Ìý

Written by the creators of Drop The Dead Donkey, Guy Jenkin and Andy Hamilton – with elements of improvisation – Outnumbered stars Hugh Dennis (Mock The Week, The Now Show, My Hero), Claire Skinner (Sense And Sensibility, Burn Up, Life Begins) and Samantha Bond (Die Another Day, Fanny Hill).

Ìý

The series also stars David Ryall (The League of Gentlemen's Apocalypse), Tyger Drew-Honey (The Armstrong & Miller Show), Daniel Roche and Ramona Marquez.

Ìý

Outnumbered is written, directed and produced by Andy Hamilton (Trevor's World Of Sport, Bedtime) and Guy Jenkin (Bike Squad, Crossing The Floor).

Ìý

It was commissioned by Lucy Lumsden, ±«Óãtv Controller, Comedy Commissioning. The Executive Producers are Jimmy Mulville for Hat Trick and Simon Wilson for the ±«Óãtv.

Ìý

The Sunday Times said: "Outnumbered is very funny indeed… Andy Hamilton and Guy Jenkin's script is beautifully observed and understated… There is a nicely cluttered, claustrophobic feel to the drama too, and the intimation of something dark and destructive lurking just around the corner... And the whole thing is handled with that rarest of sitcom devices: subtlety. Quite how the directors got the kids to act so naturally is a mystery to me."

Ìý

The Daily Telegraph: "A clever, funny, well-observed sitcom… [Outnumbered] gave the most truthful description on record of what it is actually like being a parent… The show was entirely stolen by the three young children, whose acting was awesomely natural."

Ìý

And the Daily Express: "This new sitcom brilliantly captures the chaos of family life when children think they rule the roost."
