Biographies

Fiona MacKenzie

Ìý

Fiona MacKenzie was born in 1987 on the Isle of Lewis and educated through the medium of Gaelic, attending the Gaelic Medium Unit in Aird and then the Nicolson Institute.

Ìý

She comes from a musical family and started a degree at university before being offered a job by The Gaelic Arts Agency.

Ìý

An administration position followed within MG Alba and she was then approached by a production company to front an episode of a Gaelic arts television series.

Ìý

She later auditioned to present a Gaelic motoring series and was then asked to be the continuity presenter for the new channel, ±«Óãtv Alba.

Kirsteen MacDonald

Ìý

Kirsteen MacDonald was born and brought up in Inverness, although her mother's family belong to the Morar area on the west coast. Her father is from Helensburgh. She learned Gaelic at the Central Primary School, Inverness.

Ìý

Since joining the ±«Óãtv she has worked on the children's TV prog Dè a-nis? (What Now?) and news for ±«Óãtv Rèidio nan Gàidheal, reporting for the Glasgow area and doing news bulletins.

Ìý

She will be the weather forecaster for the new channel and is looking forward to providing an accurate and reliable service for the viewers.

±«Óãtv Alba: Evelyn Coull Evelyn Coull

Evelyn Coull

Ìý

Evelyn was born and brought up in Lochs on the Isle of Lewis. After graduating from Glasgow University with an Honours degree in Celtic Studies, Evelyn moved back to Lewis where she has worked for various organisations.

Ìý

She has worked for ±«Óãtv Craoladh nan Gaidheal, Comhairle nan Eilean and most recently she taught Gaelic at secondary level in the Nicolson Institute.

Ìý

Evelyn has been involved presenting various Gaelic programmes on radio and television over the years.

±«Óãtv Alba: Angela MacLean and Iain MacLean Angela MacLean and Iain MacLean

Angela MacLean

Ìý

Angela MacLean is one of the presenters of An Là. She was born and raised in Lewis.

Ìý

After graduating from the University of Glasgow nine years ago, she joined the ±«Óãtv Radio nan Gaidheal news team in Inverness, and has worked there ever since.

Ìý

She has also been involved in Craoladh nan Gaidheal's current affairs television programme, Eòrpa.

Ìý

Iain Maclean

Ìý

Iain Maclean is one of the main news presenters on ±«Óãtv Alba's new television news show An Là.

Ìý

He was born and raised in Harris and, though his father's family are from Liurbost in Lewis, he considers himself a Hearadh (Harris person) through and through!

Ìý

He graduated in 2001 from the University of Aberdeen with a degree in Gaelic Studies and began working in the ±«Óãtv Radio nan Gaidheal newsroom in Inverness.

Ìý

His main responsibilities have been the preparation and presentation of radio news bulletins and reports.

Ìý

He has presented RnG's main radio news programmes – Aithris na Maidne, Aithris an Fheasgair agus Aithris na Seachdainn and has also had some experience in television work, presenting the ±«Óãtv's Gaelic audience discussion programme, Cunntas. He is a fully-trained video journalist.
