SinchronicityÌý

Paul Chequer as Nathan

Sinchronicity

Paul Chequer plays Nathan

Sinchronicity's unreliable narrator. Nathan's an instantly likeable charmer who is almost as good-looking as he sometimes hopes he is. And therein lies his problem; at 28, porn site journalist Nathan's still trying hard to be the bloke he feels he should be.

Ìý

His image - all his laddish twinkle - is a bluff that covers the insecure but lovely bloke that he still doesn't have the confidence to trust in. And maybe that's why he spends so much time running around after girls beyond his reach... when there's really only one woman in his heart.

Ìý

Paul says: "Initially when I received the Sinchronicity script I thought it read really well, and as I got more into it I thought the part of Nathan would be a hoot to play and the flashbacks would add a different dimension to what could have been a normal comedy drama.

Ìý

"Nathan is a very likeable but extremely unlucky chap in his twenties who manages to get caught in the wrong place at the wrong time. Thankfully, he always sees the bright side of the situation.

Ìý

"At the beginning of the series Nathan has a serious crush on his best friend's girlfriend Fi (Jemima Rooper), which intensifies throughout.

Ìý

"It starts off as an innocent crush and quickly turns into an obsession. He has completely fallen for Fi and no other girl can match up to her in his eyes.

Ìý

"Meanwhile it is really important to Nathan to remain a good friend to the pair, so no matter what Fi and Jase (Daniel Percival) throw at him, he remains loyal to both.

Ìý

"Both Nathan and I share the same upbeat attitude and humour, but I have never worked in the porn industry, seen a woman with two vaginas or slept with my best mate's girlfriend, so I wasn't able to draw on personal experience for those scenes.

Ìý

"I worked on As If with the same production team - director Brian Grant, executive producer Johnny Capps and my good friend Jemima Rooper - they are all great to work with and haven't changed a bit over the years.

Ìý

"The on-screen chemistry between me and Jemima worked really well in As If and I'm glad we were able to rekindle it for Sinchronicity."

Ìý

Paul Chequer is perhaps best known for his role as Jamie in the Channel 4 series As If. Since then Paul has gone on to star alongside Judi Dench and Maggie Smith in the film Tea with Mussolini, the 2005 Channel 4 drama Like Father, Like Son and the ±«Óãtv drama Life As We Know It.

Ìý

Most recently he starred in the ITV1 drama Murder City alongside Amanda Donohoe and Kris Marshall.

Ìý

Paul's theatre experience is vast, he has performed in Theatre 503's version of The Water Engine, Private Peaceful at The Bristol Old Vic, Tales from Vienna Woods at the National Theatre and the RSC's World Tour of a Midsummer's Nights Dream.
