G: Global warming

Norfolk is home to one of the world's leading institutions for the study of climate change.

The Climatic Research Unit in Norwich aims to improve our understanding of past changes to the Earth's climate, what the future holds and how temperature fluctuation affects humanity.

It investigates both natural climate change and changes induced by man - as a result, for example, of the burning of fossil fuels.

climatic research unit.

It is part of the School of Environmental Sciences at the University of East Anglia.

In November last year the Tyndall Centre, named after the 19th century scientist John Tyndall, was opened at the UEA.

It brings together climate scientists, economists, social scientists and engineers to explore and develop new responses to climate change and advise the government on plans of action for the future.
