Country case study: South Sudan

Presenting the challenges in meeting the information needs of the people of South Sudan, this country case study highlights a need for long-term and harmonised efforts to support media.

Publication date: August 2012

This report is one of a series of case studies examining support to, and development of, the media in countries where media freedoms and rights to information and communication are restricted – with a particular focus on people, politics and media.

Five case studies focus on Bangladesh, Cambodia, South Sudan, Syria and Uganda. They consider the impact of both policy and practice, and are intended to feed into decision-making at both levels to enable delivery of more focused and effective media support.
