We start and end this evening in Bohemia, with two pieces that vividly conjure up images of their composers鈥� homeland: Smetana鈥檚 effervescent overture and Jan谩cek鈥檚 heart-on-sleeve love letter to his hometown of Brno. In between, we鈥檙e off to France, as virtuoso Louis Lortie stars in two Saint-Sa毛ns specialities before Berlioz鈥檚 calm-before-the-storm orchestral interlude.
