About This Event

In the final instalment of the tone poem series the focus is on music inspired by the rivers of Europe, both beautiful and sinister. Smetana’s well-loved Vltava opens with is iconic representation of one of Eastern Europe’s great rivers. Janáček’s The Danube, unfinished at the time of the composer’s death, evokes the river that he had planned to take a trip on.
