White skies and sunshine times

Kings of quirky hooks and summer sing-alongs, these four New Yorkers stand alone in writing songs about the most obscure of subject matter, with songs telling stories of punctuation, bus routes, roof conversions and the Victorians.

Before they'd even released their debut album the band received praise for their live sets which turned sweaty basements and frozen fields into carnivals. With third album, Modern Vampires of the City, released this summer, their Paul Simon-esque infectious melodies and the jaunty vocals of front man Ezra Koenig continue to justify the hype.

Last at Big Weekend in 2010, Ezra's recent collaboration with Major Lazer has added another string to their incredibly talented bows. When they headline this year, expect more graceful strings and afrobeats that you can shake a stick at.
