Deadlines in Dortmund

paul_fletcher.gifDORTMUND - Ricco drove us through the night (more or less) to get us to Dortmund in time to do a piece for ±«Óãtv World.

Alas, the technological aspect of our trip is not running as smoothly as Svan (our camper van) when Ricco is behind the wheel.

The search for a hotspot was pretty intense this morning but deadlines proved unrealistic and our webcam slot on the programme went begging.

The episode wasn't a total waste of time as we discovered that the headphones we are supposed to use are pretty dodgy.

Hearing Ricco say "This is Martin and I am testing the headphones to see if there is sound....oh no there isn't" time after again in an internet shop was not without its humour.

We both had a very large sausage afterwards and conducted a brief postmortem as to what wrong.

Our special World Cup campsite here in Dortmund is actually a large, rather poorly maintained carpark with the odd toilet scattered here and there.

When we arrived early this morning it was all but deserted. By the time we headed out an hour or so later the Swedes had started to arrive en masse for their game against Trinidad & Tobago on Saturday.

A few toyed with breakfast but, an hour or so before noon, seemed to have moved on to something a little more refreshing.

There was a brief moment of crisis when one group could not get their TV to work but, after much earnest discussion and chin stroking, they appeared to sort the problem.

When we arrive back later I fully expect the carnage to be underway.

It is really hot here and decent temperatures plus alcohol surely means sunburn and singing.

By the way, if you haven't seen our video of Andriy Shevchenko click here.

I was listening to the Germany VS Costa Rica on Univision and Radio Caracol [with some comments on the ±«Óãtv Website].

I heard the first half of the game during my lunch. It appeared that Germany had control of the game with its first goal within 5 minutes of the opening half. Costa Rica was able to equalize within 10 minutes. After 17 minutes, Germany was regaining control of the ball with a 2 to 1. The first half was 2 to 1.

I was unable to appreciate the second part of the game because of work. But I was able to appreciate [hearing the television in the background] that Costa Rica attempted a comeback but that Germany had scored 4 to 2. With this victory, Germany consolidated its place in Group A at the present tense.

Let us see what will occur with Poland VS Ecaudor.

As it is a big tournament so it cannot expected to get everything in order but the authority should help as much as possible to the fans and especially to the journalists because they are the window of news. I should give thanks to ±«Óãtv and their journalists who are providing most updated news for us. I hope they will be doing their job successfully.

I would like to know what will happen when Ecuador plays Costa Rica and Germany plays Poland. I think England will win but may receive a surprise from Paraguay.

Criticism of England's performance is over the top.

We played well considering the tension of the opening game and the heat. With players like Lampard and Gerrard who favour diatance shots the new ball will prove a vital factor, and iam confident we will go on to greater things. Come on England we know you can do it.
