It's the final countdown

Derek Brockway Derek Brockway | 16:35 UK time, Thursday, 23 July 2009

It's the final day of the Royal Welsh Show and this week has flown by! Thankfully, the weather has been a bit better today.

There have been a few heavy showers this week but some welcome sunshine too.

I did the Wales Today lunch time weather report live from the Shearing Centre...

I turned to the audience and asked them what they thought of my forecasts this week and they all shouted "Rubbish!"

Well, I try my best...but I can only work with what I'm given ;0

At least the ladies from the Royal Welsh Show Press Office were a bit happier with my forecast today.

Eireen Perkins, Beryl Vaughan and Gwyneth Morus Jones:

This morning I dropped in on the Gwent and Powys Army Cadet Force who have a recruitment stand here.

They have a climbing tower here which is very popular plus an old Scimitar tank which is about 45 years old and weighs a staggering 10 tonnes.Ìý

I also popped into the food hall and bought some Welsh cheese, one from Snowdonia, the other from Pembrokeshire and a pot of chutney.

It was packed out in there today too, so the rain definitely helps with sales.

There's only a few hours to go before the show comes to an end but I'm already looking forward to next year.

The weather hasn't been the best but I've have a great time and met some lovely people.

I'm off to Llandrindod Wells this evening for a meal with Sue Charles - my weather presenter buddy. Her parents are coming too, so I'd better be on my best behaviour.

Then I'll be heading back home down the A470. I've got a day off tomorrow and I'm looking forward to a lie in!

I hope you've enjoyed my blogs from the Royal Welsh Show.

Derek
