Under fire from angry seagulls

Julie Howatson-Broster Julie Howatson-Broster | 17:22 UK time, Friday, 9 May 2008

Just arrived back from Cardiff having been filming most of the week With Iolo and the ±«Óãtv Wales crew. Wow - what a fantastic time we had! And to top it all, the weather was absolutely glorious! Doesn`t everyone feel better when the sun is shining? I won`t need a spray tan this week - got it naturally instead!

Carried out my first challenge this week with Laverne, Chris and Lloyd. What lovely men to work with - and so polite. Was a total pleasure to be in their company - all we did was laugh. I`m beginning to think that the series `Not In Your Nature` should now be called `A Laugh With Nature` as we have giggled and had so much fun while still learning so much about the wonderful nature here in Wales.

Iolo is also a total pleasure to be with and is so passionate about Wales and its nature. He really is excited about sharing his vast knowledge with us. He also has a very clever way of explaining things without baffling us novices with unknown lingo!

We had a chance to:

a) stand close and watch the elegant red kites get fed in Mid Wales, so close we could nearly reach out to them (though I really wouldn`t want to do that!)

b) learn about honey bees and even handle cute little bumble bees (though one cheeky one did decide to pooh on my hand - another funny moment, I must add)

c) visit the secluded, yet beautiful island of Flat Holm and count the nests while trying to avoid any diving seagulls and flying pooh. Check out my outfit during this task - rather sexy, I must admit.

I already feel so much more knowledgable than I did just one week ago. Can you imagine what I`ll be like by the end of the series?

I'm even discovering that when an article about nature appears in the newspaper or on the news, I'm actually pausing to listen to it! I very rarely used to do that before working on this series.

Anyway, I'm now going to attempt to unpack my suitcase ready to get it packed again in two days time. Can`t wait now for the next challenge.

Speak to you soon and please feel free to keep in touch.
