The works of one of Wales' most famous artistic daughters is on show at the National Museum Wales, Cardiff, in the exhibition . Gwen John began modelling for the legendary sculptor Auguste Rodin in 1904 and subsequently became his lover, and this exhibition - which runs until the end of January - examines their works and their fascinating relationship.
While you're there, remember there are two major pieces of work by two giants of the visual arts world on display: Rembrandt's Portrait of Catrina Hooghsaet - on loan from Penrhyn Castle until March - and the new acquisition by Pablo Picasso, Still Life with Poron.

The in Swansea has a special screening of recent acquisitions of work by Peter Finnemore, a contemporary Welsh artist. Plus there's an exhibition of Derry-born Willie Doherty's work including a new film, Buried.
in Milford Haven is currently showing Don't Go Calling Us Ugly..., a series of behind-the-scenes photographs taken by student Ben Meagher during the theatre's recent production of Cinderella. And for those mourning the departure of the festive season, there's a collection of photographs and artefacts from Christmases past in Pembrokeshire. Both exhibitions finish on 11 January.

An array of visual arts are on show at , ranging from Disposable People: Contemporary Global Slavery - a project by photojournalists that highlights slavery and servitude across the globe - to Welsh Table, an exhibition celebrating contemporary ceramic tableware from Wales.

A new exhibition opens at the on 9 January. A Welsh-Irish collaborative project, Le Chéile (meaning 'together') has involved a series of working prints, drawing and collages between artist in County Kildare and Wrexham.On 16 January, meanwhile, Wise and Foolish Dreamers opens at , exploring the role of Wales and Welsh soldiers within the Spanish Civil War.

in Holyhead sees two art exhibitions open on 9 January: Brian Crouch and The Studio Re-cycled, and Heglu2. Couch, inspired by Picasso's Cubist constructions, has composed 3D collages made from off-cuts from his studio, while Heglu2 is the result of a project involving artists Richard Houghton, Femke Van Gent and Tom Simone, in conjunction with Tyddyn Môn.
