A new goal
If you look up my old blog entries, specifically one I wrote about feeling conflicted about the Six O'Clock News being shunted off to ±«Óãtv Two when big sporting events appeared, you will find it less of a surprise that I'm moving to set up a new sports news programme.
That means leaving the One and Six and going up a few floors to the Sports department. It's going to be on ±«Óãtv One and start sometime next year. I shall continue to blog and I will be starting a debate on the web to solicit your ideas as to what you might like to see on the programme once I get my feet under the table. I am leaving one of the best jobs (and more importantly best teams) in journalism and I must admit I got a little teary-eyed when I told the team this morning.
But change and challenge is generally a good thing. A ±«Óãtv correspondent once said to me, if you see an open door you should push it and see what's on the other side.

is this to try and compete with sky sports news or something?

Speaking of the new sports news programme...does this hopefully mean that sports headlines are being taken off the mainstream news?

Just one tip: please don't move news off its proper slot just because there's some boring football match going on!
Are you going to be creating a sports news show in the style of Soccer AM's All Sport Show or is it a news styled show of the days/weeks sports headlines. If it's the latter can you make it like the fictional US show Sports Night as I think an actual show in this format would work very well.
