Dylan Winter is back with the Radio Four programme that gets you closer than ever to nature. The series starts on Friday October 12th and, as usual, we'd like your help with our stories. In the first programme we'll be asking for contributions to 'Bugs Britannica', a definitive portrait of Britain's insects. We're not just interested in their biology or their lifecycle. We really want to hear about the different names used for common insects up and down the country. We want to hear how their habits differ from Orkney to Truro. We need the tales, legends and traditions that surround them.
With the Autumn mushroom season upon us the programme will also be taking a look at the dos and don'ts of wild food. If you've got any advice for safe foraging or tasty recipe ideas for alexander seeds or roadkill rabbit please let us know.
The series will also be taking a look at London's beaches. Could a quick clean-up turn the Isle of Dogs into the Cote d'Azur? Dylan will be learning how to count birds the professional way and there's a reassesment of the 1987 Great Storm. Southern England's strongest winds for two hundred years destroyed millions of trees and utterly changed the way Britain's forests are managed. Dylan finds out if the storm was a blessing in disguise.

No one having seen Oldham`s Asian areas where great piles of litter and detritus is casually thrown /dumped in the streets, alleyways and parks would encourage this scheme, particularly in areas as sensitive as the National Parks.
There`s an awful lot of education needed nearer to home first regarding use and enjoyment of one`s surroundings
If authorities can`t even keep streets clean how on earth would they cope in widespread rural areas?
