Gay equality - a bottom-line issue. You've got to love it even if he is a Conservative.

It's not just the Conservative party who have had to get their act together - Dave has had to journey towards the light quite a distance on this one himself. I don't for a moment wonder if it's all a cynical vote-winning ploy.

Its a pity that David Cameron - for political reasons - feels unable to tell the truth about the abnormal nature of same-sex relationships and the harm the acceptance of such relationships is having on our society.

I am aware that the Anglican Church is having its own difficuties with this issue - unfortunately the fear of division is carrying more weight than faithfulness to what God says in Scripture. But the Christian Church in general is better employed in supporting marriage, while also encouraging homosexual people to leave their sinful lifestyle and to find forgiveness and new life in Jesus Christ.

What else is the Church for?

If I'm following the argument of posts 1 & 2 correctly , the greatest antidote for sectarianism would be for the Pope to marry into the Royal Family.

Graham why not think on-thread and out of the box. What about a gay civil partnership? You never know - two octogenarian reactionaries with an interest in religion might be very happy together - Jo and Phil Windzinger has a certain ring to it.

I think their age may be problematic to any sort of ecumenical romantic union. I used to help a group of elderly men fight for their rights. They held a march through the city and tried to hang a big banner from a big tree. Unfortunately, they couldnt get it up.
