The best definition I know of a saint is this: a dead sinner, revised and edited. I've a feeling Oscar Wilde would have approved of that definition. And he'd smile at the of his ideas as a journey of faith. His grave in Paris may soon be attracting even more "pilgrims".

...on a different note, when Paul wrote to the Corintians, a church laden down with various sin, he described tham as saints.
Biblically speaking all believers are saints. Biblical sainthood is different to Vatican sainthood.
Highly organised religion often tries to give the impression only it can dispense the fruit of faith, empowering itself by placing itself between man and God.
But the NT says Christ is the ONLY mediator. He says no man comes to the father but by him.
The bible also teaches the priesthood of all believers for example. ie every believer is a priest as well as a saint.
This sounds so strange because men have monopolised and propagandised all this for so many centuries in the interests of power and control.
God is not best pleased at this.
The book of Revelations condemns the Nicolaitans (Nico-laitans) meaning conquerors of the laity....
