If Sean Kingston had've released this on his own I actually wouldn't mind it! It's Justin Boober's whiny voice that kills it. Best part of the song is definitely the chorus the rest is barely listenable.....

Must be honest and admit that I am obviously not the target audience for this song , and it's highly , shallow disposable pop but having an objective view , I can see why thousands of other people are gonna love it tremendously.

Infact quoting 50 Cent , some people are going to love this song like a fat kid loves cake !

There is one high note in the slow part of the bridge that is truly magical , and when the big drumbeat kicks in on that annoyingly catchy chorus , the whole thing catches fire and shows it's dance edge .

Yes , the uptempo part of the bridge borrows heavily from Frankmusik's Done Done Done , but the clever/evil (delete as appropriate) puppeteer who put these two giants of pop music together , sure had his eye on the dollar signs .

Sean and Justin haters may want to stock up on supplies and go into hiding , if they wish to avoid this Summer , commercial smash hit , that will be cling to radio and T.V playlists , just like that white bikini clung to Myleene Klass as she showered in the jungle !

This , for all the world , sounds like a top 10 hit !

I will eat that fat person's cake the day I believe Sean Kingston is a pop giant. He's not! I actually find Justin Bieber the only redeeming part of this song...which really says a lot from me!

Highlights were "Hideaway" , "Long Time Coming" and new single "Unsung "

Not really feeling this song, it's badly crafted around a nursery rhyme and Justin Boobface is trying to pretend he's from 'da hood'.

This does not work.

Righto, who wants a final update od the UK downloads? I only ask because whilst the bulk of the chart haven't changed, there are some development which may or may not be of interest to some of you.

Lady GaGa's 'Alejandro' has risen since yesterday, to #27. That's a climb of 12 places, without some much as a promo video to go with the increasing amount of radio airplay it's getting. Incidentally, the video can be expected to be released tomorrow. I figure it will peak at #5-#7 by the physical release.

Only four Eurovision entries have made it into the Top 100. Which ever country entered a song called 'Opa' is at exactly #100, and which ever country entered 'Je ne sais quoi' is at #89. Ireland's entry 'All I Ever Want Is You' is at #81.

Hold on to your hats - Alexander Rybak resides at #60. Hmmm.... No sign of this year's winner nor Josh Dubovie with 'That Sounds Good To Me'.

Katie Melua's 'The Flood' has been plodding up and down the #40-#50 margin all week... This is NOT FAIR.

Only one 'Glee' song remains in the Top 40... just - 'I Dreamed A Dream', at #40. Which mean that their covers of 'Bad Romance', 'Jessie's Girl', and 'Total Eclipse Of The Heart', all fell (rather spectacularly) to the region of the #95-#100 margin.

'Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart' has fallen 15 places since last week.

Train's 'Hey, Soul Sister', is sitting awkwardly just outside the Top 20... still.

K'naan's 'Waving Flag' and David Guetta's 'Gettin' Over You' have both made steep climbs of 20 places or so.

And probably the most important development - 'Dirtee Disco' no longer claims the Top spot on the downloads chart. 'Nothin' On You' has returned to the top, pushing 'Dirtee Disco' down to #2.

Thranjax , I was in the company of Aaron from Delays , for a considerable amount of time the other night , talking about the world , the music scene , Trevor Horn , the universe and everything .

Not only is he a very passionate , articulate man , but he almost talks as much as me , which as you know , may seem hard to believe .

I am sure Delays would come to Scunthorpe if they can be guaranteed , a night with the gorgeous Andy Barley , and not to be vomited on by young children , or attacked by a gang of wild cats !

@22 Spirit, I can hardly guarantee two of those things, but I think the Delays are hard enough to withstand a little bit of vomit. Or cats. Or both! Andy Barley I can guarantee!

Cannot estimate Alejandro at present , until I see the video and judge it's commercial impact on the pop world .There is no doubt that the video to Telephone was a real contributing factor to it's number 1 position.

Also , there is the matter of radio and T.V airplay , which will effect the peak position of a song . A lot of radio stations are still holding onto Telephone , and are yet to give their shift in impetus and energy to Alejandro just yet , so I must assess this transition .

I have also not yet seen Gaga's schedule for promoting the track , on various tv shows in Britain, and the strategy of core promotion , for the theme of the song. Could be interesting.

Okay, so the video is out tomorrow, and a still has already been leaked, showing GaGa looking very un-GaGa amidst a crowd of muscle-bound men wearing nothing but underwear, molesting her and each other.

A very odd concept for the song, it turns out, 'Alejandro' is a gay man GaGa wants to be with, but 'Alejandro' doesn't want her in the same way so she'd rather not risk their friendship by asking him out.

... GaGa seems a bit odd don't you think?

OddOne only realises this now! :D Yes, the concepts for her videos are just becoming more and more out there! I look forward to seeing what she does next though. I'm no predictive genius but I don't see Alejandro becoming GaGa's 5th UK #1. I do think it will reach Top 5 though.

And ask spirit, I'm CERTAINLY not a predictive genius, but I don't believe 'Alejandro' will be GaGa's fifth UK #1 either. Here's why:

The album ['The Fame'] (not called 'The Fame Monster' in the UK, it was sold as a double disc along with the first album under the title 'The Fame') recently went Diamond, meaning it's shifted over 10 million copies. So a lot of people will have the song by now, granted many had 'Telephone', but the video hype helped that.


'Alejandro' is, without doubt, one of the weaker songs on the album, whilst it continues to show-case GaGa's ability to pen a great chorus with numerous hooks. But after the first chorus, the song get's very repetative, no doubt which part of the song will be edited out for radio... "Ale-Alejandro, Ale-Alejan-DER-o...".

'Dance In The Dark' would've been a much better single choice; not only does it have better musicality and an absolutely monumental chorus, it has a middle eight akin to Madonna's 'Vogue', but this isn't what makes it great: what makes it great is that it's something we haven't heard in the song before, whereas listen to 'Alejandro's 'middle 8', it's actually - essentially - a breakdown, so we've heard it before which makes it more repetative compared to 'Dance In The Dark's 80's-style sprechgesang (German phrase, probably coined by Kraftwerk or something like that, 'speak-sing') middle 8.

But then again, 'Alejandro's chorus is very much a sing-a-long affair and far more summary than any other song on the album, due to it's Spanish sound. It's more radio-friendly and is already receiving decent airplay on Radio 1 despite it only being placed on the C List at the moment.

But as I've said before, what 'Alejandro' does do well, it does well properly. It sounds lkie Ace of Base, you have been absent from the airwaves for about 15 years now: the sound will be welcomed back with open arms, especially those.. shall we say... slightly older than GaGa's target audience?

Hmmm... speculation... I withdraw my previous chart prediction because, like spirit said - she may have promotion planned, some radios might not accept the song etc, etc.

Forgive me but I'm getting a tad annoying with this profanity filter, I can't, no matter how many times I re-write my updates, I cannot comment.

So now I'll post the comment in sections.

Well, the mid-weeks are out now and considering my last attempt at updating you lot on the UK downloads was filtered by the Profanity Filter (don't get why), I'll try again. So here goes, and I can promise you this update might just be 24% more interestinger than the ±«Óãtv's one because mine is in SECTIONS... now applaude.

Some unusual things to note:

Following her performance on 'BGT', Pixie Lott has inevitably moved into the Top 20 with 'Turn It Up', already out-peaking 'Gravity', as it now sits at #16.

Kesha's 'Your Love Is My Drug' sits in what must be the most annoying place on the chart - #11.

'Good Times' and 'Stereo Love' have taken huge falls to #27 from #11, and from #9 to #19, respectively, since last Sunday. Reasons unknown.

Germany's winning Eurosvision entry is the only one inside the Top 40, at #21, with Spain's entry at #86.

Lady GaGa's 'Alejandro' continues to rise up on downloads alone, now at #23 despite not getting a physical release until June 28. Slightly disappointed about this because I feel it's charting too early; even 'Telephone' didn't chart that high, that early. This and the video (released in four days) is going to stunt 'Alejandro's peak hugely.

A bit on this week's new releases:

The Official FIFA World Cup Song, Shakira's 'Waka Waka (This Time For Africa)', is looking to be a 'failure' - it's stalled at #82.

Much to my utter bewilderment and dismay, David Guetta has moved into the #1 position with 'Gettin' Over You', pushing B.o.B. down to second.

Jason DeRulo's 'Ridin' Solo' get's it's offical physical release this week, helping it hold it's own and keep it in the Top 3.

Miley Cyrus' 'Can't Be Tamed' was wondering about the #30 mark for most of Monday and Teusday, but now it's at #14, no doubt this will shoot up into the Top 10 following HER performance on 'BGT' tonight.

And a bit on the Top 10:

Dizzee Rascal's 'Dirtee Disco', Eminem's 'Not Afraid', and Iyaz's 'Solo' all fall but manage to stay in the Top 10, at #6, #10 and #9 respectively.

Again, 'BGT' does wonders for another artist. Following Alicia Keys' stunning performance of 'Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart', it has moved from #17, to #5.

Aggro Santos and Kimberly Wyatt have moved back into the Top 5 downloads with 'Candy'.

It seems that, much like in the 90s when rave music became popular, people are coping with the recession by buying lots of high energy dance music and/or anything with 'good times' in the lyrics.

I think if Sean Kingston is reading this , he may be thinking some of these things :

1) Whatever doesn't kill me makes me stronger .

2) Ah , name calling , normally means the other person has low self-esteem and needs to put someone else down , to make themselves feel better . They will see the light , and realise I have feelings and like to be valued .

3) Ah Chartblog . Your regulars are so much better when they talk about the music , instead of focussing on people's physical appearance . Bring back the good times.

4)Where is Randy , I miss him .

5) I wonder if England can still win the World Cup , now that Rio has busted his knee .

LOL spirit, maybe we were a bit harsh on him, but it doesn't change the fact that the song is a bit wet.

I really like the melody in this song , but I feel the "eenie meenie" lyric , veers it uncomfortably into cheesy territory , and will alienate a lot of people from liking it .
Melody wise , it's infectiously catchy , and it's no surprise it hit the top 10 .

Well, you've already had an upate on the downloaded singles this week, not much has changed except after her performance on BGT, Miley Cyrus soars into the Top 5 with 'Can't Be Tamed'.

So here are some interesting things going on in the world of music right now, took me a while to dig these goodies up, so I want love for this.

Alexandra Burke's new single - yes, that's the one she's using to supposedly 'crack' the States, and maybe the lead single for her sophomore effort - has surfaced.



Hmmm... Camp fest? Cheese fest? Down-right 'WHAT-THE-HELL-HAVE-THEY-DONE-TO-ALEXANDRA-SINCE-THE-X-FACTOR? fest? I. Think. So.

If that's not enough shame to our country - Jedward have revealed their new single will be a cover of the Blink-182 hit 'All The Small Things'. Expect it to hit radio by the end of the month. I'm off to buy some ear-muffs.

Simon Cowell is hounding Kieran Gaffney for a recording career. Dear Lord WHAT!? Three guesses what the first single will be a cover of... COUGH COUGH PHIL COLLINS.

Katy Perry will perform her new song, 'California Gurls' completely starkers along with many other naked female dancers at the MTV Movie Awards.

Lady GaGa has finished recording her third album but has put the release back to 2011. This is because she wishes to "give the fans what they want", and tour, tour, tour. I wonder if she'll shove the promised release of 'Speechless' in there too. I do hope so.

Eminem's video for 'Not Afraid' has recently surfaced. No doubt the video release and the performance he's doing on Wossy as I write this will boost it back up the charts, but I doubt it will out-peak itself.

Christina and Nicki Minaj are quarelling about how they should shoot the video for 'Woo-Hoo'. Nicki claims she should appear in the video more than Christina wants her to. To be perfectly honest I couldn't give a flying pumpkin because I hate the song and have already written a review of it: I feel about it that strongly.

Alphabeat don't like how 'Glee' songs chock up the charts.
This must have absolutely nothing to do with the under-performance of their last two singles 'Hole In My Heart' (rather bad), and 'DJ (I Could Be Dancing)' (rather good).

Mika's back in the studio recording new material. After working with RedOne and producing what's must've been the most infectious chorus of the year so far, it'll be interesting to see if he'll collaborate again. I'd rather him release 'Touches You' for the summer first, then 'I See You' for the autumn before new stuff comes out.

Justin Bieber wants to been seen as a more mature artist. He wants his career to "span further into his manhood". Manhood!? Okay, if you say so...
