Perfect Playlist - Paramore

Fraser McAlpine | 13:28 UK time, Tuesday, 25 March 2008

Lord Kitchener - Your ChartBlog Needs YouOK, so after the blazing success that was creating a playlist of songs for the Elliot Minor fan, shall we have another go? Good, good!

This time, I'm going to tell you a little story. Are you sitting comfortably? Then I'll begin.

Suppose you've a friend who is a little bit younger and less experienced in the ways of modern music than you are, and they have come to you with a copy of the Paramore album 'Riot!', claiming that they love this band more than life itself, and wondering if there are other songs which would go well with Paramore songs...

If it were me, and I wanted to show a different slant on that angelic lady-voice plus rockin' band thing, and some idea of how it has been done in the past, I'd suggest this song, 'Crash' by the Primitives. It doesn't sound like Paramore exactly, but it goes well with their music (IMHO), and, most importantly, is very good indeed.

So, having explored prehistory together, what else would sit nicely on a Paramore-esque playlist? Over to you!

I don't watch The Hills - I DON'T, OK? - but Paramore sound like they should soundtrack the emo bits in that.

    i.e, all of it.

Hearts Under Fire = British all-girl Paramore, who I think are far better than Hayley et al but others may well disagree:

SEE ALSO: (however there are probably rude words in these songs, so proceed with caution)

    My Ruin -Ready For Blood

(not the best song by miles but it is the new song -and Tarrie B could actually literally EAT Paramore)

    The Offspring- Nitro

I'm not sure why and I wonder if anyone else feels the same, but after listening to Paramore I always feel like going for something similar, but abit heavier. . . like:

    Track: 'Ready to Fall'
    Artist: Rise Against
Album: 'The Sufferer & the Witness'

I urge anyone who hasn't given Rise Against a listen to do so, they are brilliant!

    The hills are evil!!

Lol, Kerri.. I was checking out Fireflight's Myspace yesterday, at least I think it was them! Anyway the next place they were playing was "Haileyville Christian Church" or something.. does anyone else find that hilarious? Say it to yourself :P

Offspring are awesome.. Can't Get My Head Around You would be shiny after Paramore too, I think.

Loving that song, Jamie.. they'd been totally off my radar :P

Thanks Kat, I feel many people may have missed them.

If you liked that check out: Prayer of the Refugee, Drones, Injection and Swing Life Away. Infact just listen to all their stuff, lol.

p.s. I thought "Haileyville Christian Church" was amusing!

p.p.s. Offspring rule! Although we already know Fraser is not a fan.

I shall do, lol. I'm making up my plane-playlist right now.. seriously most people spend ages packing.. I spend ages preparing stupid playlists and the night before chucking things into a suitcase! Might put some on it anyway. Actually, might just use both the lists from each blog as a couple of handy playlists ;)

There must be some way to bring Fraser round.. hmm.. evil minds get a-thinkin!

[Hey, I'm open to persuasion, so long as the music you play me doesn't sound like the Offspring. Go, do your worst! - Fraser]
