Basically, whenever Chris Willis is howling his pain to the night sky, that's where you'll find the best anaesthetic. The bits where the big rave synth kicks in, even though they are supposed to be the peaks, kind of miss the point. Having said that, most of what the song has to say is over and done with by the end of the first verse, seeing as the second verse is the first verse again anyway.

Not that you're going to get anywhere in life looking to dance music for proper narrative and story-telling in songs, it would be nice though, considering the first minute of the song is so arresting.

There's something about the pain in Chris Willis's voice which plays havoc with the goosebump synapses of anyone who has ever lost in love and still feels it a little bit. Which is almost all of us, right? And to make matters worse, at certain points in the song there are at least THREE Chris Willises all singing at the same time. A state of affairs which should, by rights, encourage goosebumps on your goosebumps.

Thankfully that doesn't happen, otherwise we'd all be walking around with headphones on and skin like porridge. But it's very effective all the same.

So. Full marks for putting total emotional breakdown into a song aimed squarely at the nightclubs, less one for the slightly silly 'chorus', and one more for repetition of verse material.

Standards, eh? Who'd 'ave 'em?
