What are lines of latitude and longitude?

We use imaginary lines to find where a place is in the world.

  • We use lines of latitude to find out how far north or south a place is.

  • Anything lying south (below) of the Equator is in the Southern Hemisphere and is called °ł§.

  • Anything lying north (above) of the Equator is in the Northern Hemisphere and is called °±·.

  • The North Pole is 90°±· and the South Pole is 90°ł§.
