Proportions

You can represent proportion using ratios, percentages and fractions. Here's a reminder of what each means:

Ratios

A ratio shows how much of one thing there is compared to another. Ratios are usually written in the form a:b.

Percentage

Percent means 'per 100' and it's shown using the symbol %.

Fractions

A fraction is a part of a whole. There are two numbers to every fraction: the top number of the fraction is called the numerator. The bottom number is called the denominator.
