What is happiness?

  • Happiness is a positive emotion we all experience from time to time.
  • Although we would all like to have more happiness, it's important to look after all of our emotions.
  • Our can really affect our happiness. We all face different challenges that can make life difficult.
  • However, what we pay attention to also affects our happiness. Taking time to think about the things we are for can lead to more happiness in our lives.

Activity – What are you grateful for?

Try Lorna's practical wellbeing activity to help you grow more happiness.

Think of three good things that are here in your experience right now. They don't have to be big things, just three good things that you appreciate.

Here are some ideas to get you started:

  • a quality you have, like your creativity or your sense of humour
  • a skill you're working on, like playing an instrument or listening well to others
  • a person that you care about, like a friend, teacher or family member
  • a thing in your life, like the socks you're wearing or fresh air

Thinking of things that you really appreciate can start to grow more happiness little by little.
