World climate zones

The atmospheric circulation system creates Earth's climate zones. The climate zones are represented on graphs by using maximum and minimum temperatures and precipitation data. There are five factors which together, affect climate. These are:

  • winds
  • distance from the sea

Climate is shown on a climate graph with temperature always as a line graph and precipitation always as a bar graph for each month of the year.

The UK's average temperature peaks in July and August at 23°C. Rainfall happens all year round, peaking in October at 63 mm.
