Identifying a performer's strengths and areas for improvement

Having an overview of the skills of the sport enables the performer and coach to assess which areas are strengths for the performer and which skills are weaknesses and should be improved.

Match analysis with a simple âś“ âś— chart can show which skills a performer regularly uses and whether or not the skill is successful.

Video analysis also helps coaches and performers to identify the strengths and weaknesses of an athlete's performance. Typically, video analysis software supports playback, slow motion and simultaneous examples – of your own or exemplary performances. It helps to provide accurate feedback. See Guidance.

Video analysis can also use simple video or stills cameras.

Data collection and analysis

Video analysis can be used to create and gather data that helps to analyse individual performances. Linked to computer software, this data can be presented in a variety of ways to identify areas for improvement, to provide feedback and to monitor progress over time.
