The relevance and roles of the prophets in Islam

A prophet is a messenger. For Muslims, he is a person through whom speaks. Traditionally, there are 124,000 prophets within Islam and Muslims believe that the is the final prophet.

We believe in Allah and that which is revealed unto us and that which was revealed unto Abraham, and Ishmael, and Isaac, and Jacob, and the tribes, and that which Moses and Jesus received, and that which the prophets received from their Lord.
— Qur’an: 2:136

Whenever a Muslim mentions the name of Muhammad, they say “Peace be upon him.” For Muslims, the prophets provide an important link between Allah and humankind.
