You must evaluate your design portfolio using the SQA template. The template must not be altered and you must not exceed the space provided. When complete, it should be attached to the first sheet of your portfolio.

Your evaluation should answer questions about your sources of design inspiration, your own design idea and your reflections on your process and the development of your work.

You could adapt the following questions as a guide.

Review and reflect on your design process:

• How did you respond to the opportunities and constraints of your design brief?
• Were you inspired by a particular designer and in what way?
• How did you plan and develop your design idea?
• What were the challenges and how did you respond to them?
• What do you think about your development work and how did it help you to refine your idea?
• How well did you respond to your design brief?
• How did your work change through the portfolio?
• How did your skills develop during the portfolio?
• How did your design decisions affect the success of your design idea?
• What would you do differently in the future and why?

Review and reflect on your design solution:

• How have you used visual elements such as line, tone, colour and shape and what was the effect?
• What materials and techniques did you use, and why? Did they work successfully?
• How successfully did you solve functional and aesthetic issues?
• What meaning and messages did you want to convey and were you successful?
• What is your opinion of your design solution? What elements do you think are successful and why?
• How well would your design appeal to the target market?
• What would you do differently in the future and why?
