Organising your ideas

After you have finished your research, you can now use your plan to organise your ideas.

Try to organise your work into different sections:

The beginning

The middle

  1. Present the information and refer to your research.
  2. Move from point to point in an organised way.
  3. Remember to express opinions.

The end

  1. End the presentation.
  2. Thank the audience and invite questions.

When you have organised your ideas, you can then start writing your presentation if you wish, using a variety of language patterns, some of which we’ll run though in the rest of this guide.

You will then be able to summarise the content into a series of bullet points that will help you remember what you are going to say during the presentation. Don’t write too many notes and don’t write sentences, eg GCSE students shouldn’t write more than 30 words!

You should also prepare any resources you need. If you are going to use PowerPoint, prepare the slides etc.
