Introduction

Monitoring performance, also known as tracking, is an extremely important part of the cycle of analysis. It is how you ensure your plan is working.

Step 4 of the Cycle of Analysis: Improve and monitor performance

By monitoring you will see what is and is not working for you. You can then make changes to your sessions to ensure it remains appropriate to your development by:

  • adapting
  • progressing
  • regressing

Continuously doing this after every session will help improve your performance.

Having monitored progress throughout your session, you can evaluate the effectiveness of your development plan. This requires:

  • looking back at information such as your baseline data results and comments made throughout your programme
  • comparing to your final judgement

This gives you the evidence to state whether your plan worked or not.
