The Bible on the nature of God

The Bible reveals a number of aspects of the nature of God.

God is Creator, spirit, (He is different from humans).

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.
— Genesis 1:1-3

God is immanent (near to us) and personal (we can speak with Him).

Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as He was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the Lord God among the trees of the garden. But the Lord God called to the man, “Where are you?”
— Genesis 3:8-9

God came to Earth in human form as Jesus.

Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you I do not speak on my own authority. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work.
— John 14.10

Humans can speak with God in prayer.

This, then, is how you should pray: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name
”
— Matthew 6:9

God is spirit and to be worshipped.

God is spirit, and His worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.
— John 4:24

God lives in union with his people.

And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.
— 1 John 4:16
