Richard Ayre reappointed to the ±«Óătv Trust

Richard Ayre will serve a further four years as ±«Óătv Trustee, following approval by HM The Queen by order in the Privy Council, on advice from the DCMS.

His new term will run from 1 August 2014 to 31 July 2018.

Richard is currently Chair of the Complaints and Appeals Board. He will also become Chair of the Editorial Standards Board when Alison Hastings' term ends in 31 October 2014.

Richard recently led the service review of ±«Óătv News and Current Affairs.

Richard Ayre said,

"To remain the nation's leading broadcaster, the ±«Óătv must maintain its reputation for truth, accuracy, impartiality, and fairness. But it also has to make lively, courageous, and challenging programmes.

The Trust will protect the ±«Óătv's independence to do so, but we will also hold it publicly to account when audiences are let down, and we will do both without fear or favour.”
