It’s been scary and challenging writing for online drama ... but mostly, it’s extremely exciting creating characters that are presented in different ways, and it’s great that I can proudly put my name to this monologue.
The Break was ±«Óãtv Writers' returning series of bold new short form drama on ±«Óãtv Three, written by up-and-coming diverse talent from across the UK. There were six series of The Break, released between 2016 and 2023 with the first series released on the ±«Óãtv Taster website. All six series are available to watch now on ±«Óãtv iPlayer.
The latest series is written by writers from Coventry and the West Midlands, several of whom took part in our Coventry Voices development group, created as part of UK City of Culture 2021.

The Break: Series 1
The Break series 1 (released in 2016) was an exciting venture between ±«Óãtv Taster, ±«Óãtv Writersroom and ±«Óãtv Drama Production to produce five original short monologues for online, written by up-and-coming BAME writing talent from across the UK. Following on from the success of the first series, these dramatic shorts, released in 2017 on ±«Óãtv Three, showcase writers with a strong, unique voice who had yet to write for the screen. The writers of the third series of The Break, original short dramatic monologues for ±«Óãtv Three and ±«Óãtv iPlayer released in 2018, are all either from a Scottish background or based in Scotland. Watch them now and find out more. -
The Break: Series 4
The writers of the fourth series of The Break, original short dramatic monologues for ±«Óãtv Three and ±«Óãtv iPlayer, are all either from a Northern Irish background or based in Northern Ireland. The series was released in 2019. Watch them now and find out more. -
The Break: Series 5
The five writers of Series 5 of The Break are William Barrington, Angela Clarke, Annalisa Dinnella, Rob Kinsman and Lettie Precious. Each of the writers have disabilities and their experiences are reflected in the stories in all their diversity and humour. The Break Series 5 was released in March 2021. The four writers of Series 6 of The Break are Tal Davies, Omar Khan, Laura Maloney and Katie Arnstein. Each of the writers is from Coventry or the West Midlands.
