"This is my Great Aunt Mary's engagement ring. My mum and Aunt Mary were very close and mum was delighted when at the age of forty, Mary met Ted and fell in love. They got engaged and mum and Ted became great friends.
Then after only two years, tragedy struck, and Ted died of a heart attack. For a long time Mary was devastated but eventually, with mum's help, she started to live again. An indomitable spirit, she lived to ninety three, always a part of our family, a god mother to mum and to me.
