What is moderation?

Updated: 17 February 2020

Comments and creations uploaded on our website are often checked to make sure they stick to the ±«Óătv's rules for commenting and uploading. And if they don't, they're removed. We call this service moderation.

If you don’t agree with a moderation decision you can make an appeal. Read more about how to do that in “Can I appeal against a moderation decision?”

How we moderate

Reactive-moderation

Most comments or uploads are “reactively-moderated”. That means we check them when either:

  • They are reported by someone else (using the "Report" link found at the bottom of every comment).
  • A moderation filter alerts us there may be a problem.

Pre-moderation

Whoever you are, we'll always check your first comment before it appears. We call this "pre-moderation". Your account usually then reverts to normal.

If, at any time, someone keeps breaking the rules for commenting or uploading, they might have their account “set” to pre-moderation.

In these cases, a moderator checks every comment before it appears.
